Message Lab, an award-winning content agency specializing in brand journalism, is seeking an experienced senior editor for our newsroom. We run a number of editorial programs and publications for a roster business and technology clients, creating and producing well-sourced, deeply reported stories. Our editorial team comes from the WSJ, NY Times, Bloomberg, Forbes, Fortune and Business 2.0, and we hold the work we’re doing now to the standards of those publications.
The right candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and be able to handle complex stories and subjects. In particular, the senior editor needs to have comfort with a broad range of business, technology and startup topics, like finance, culture, cryptocurrency, artificial intelligence and more.
You’ll report to the Editorial Director and be part of a team that includes other writers and editors, as well as project managers, designers, and audience-development and measurement experts. We’re small (but growing), so you’ll have your hands in a lot of things.
We have a strong point of view for how editorial, design and data work together in the service of a singular goal. It starts with identifying great stories that support the ideas our clients care about and bringing them to life in a range of formats.
To be clear: We’re an agency that does work for companies. You should be someone who thinks that’s interesting and an opportunity to learn exciting new skills (which we don’t expect you to have right away). We have a team focused on using data to understand and improve reader engagement who you’ll be expected to work closely with — another great opportunity to learn.
But we really need you to be a great editor and a fun person to be around.
